Trois Islets was the birthplace of Marie Joseph Rose tascher de la Pagerie , who was to become the future french empress after marrying general Napoléon Bonaparte in 1796. the "Pointe du bout" is the most important tourist complex on the island and is only a 20 min ferry ride from Fort-de-France. the point is a Y-shaped peninsular fringed with hotels, restaurants, shops, boutiques, and a marina in the middle.
